Your OTT Commercial is Your Storefront

Think about the last time you drove by a business that looked run-down. The sign was faded, the paint was peeling, and the parking lot looked neglected. Chances are, you made up your mind about that business before you ever walked through the door.

Today, the same thing happens online.

For many businesses, the first thing a potential customer sees isn’t the building. It’s an OTT commercial on Hulu, Disney+, Peacock, YouTube TV, or another streaming platform. Before they visit your website, before they call, and before they walk into your business, they’re forming an opinion based on that commercial.

That’s why I tell business owners that their OTT commercial is their storefront.

When someone sees your commercial, they’re asking themselves a few simple questions. Does this company look professional? Do they seem trustworthy? Are they established? Would I feel comfortable doing business with them? The viewer may not realize they’re asking those questions, but they’re answering them in just a few seconds.

A good OTT commercial isn’t about flashy graphics or clever slogans. It’s about creating confidence. It should clearly communicate who you are, what you do, and why someone should choose you over the competition. The best commercials make people feel like they already know your business before they ever contact you.

The good news is that OTT advertising allows you to put that message directly in front of the right audience. Instead of hoping the right people see your commercial, you can target households based on demographics, interests, behaviors, and geography. That means your storefront is showing up in front of the people most likely to become customers.

At the end of the day, every business owner wants more phone calls, more website visits, and more customers. But before any of that happens, people have to trust you. Your OTT commercial is often the first chance you get to earn that trust.

So the question isn’t whether your commercial is being seen. The question is whether it’s making the impression you want it to make.
